Fathers are essential partners in promoting the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and youth. However, fathers and paternal family members have been historically overlooked by the child welfare system. Watch our discussion with Center for States Family Consultants, all self-identified fathers, and a jurisdictional representative about the inclusion of fathers in child welfare systems. We explored how action teams can be used to promote the well-being of fathers and their families, learn practices and services that promote healthy relationships between fathers and their children, and identify strategies for achieving small and major goals like family reunification.
